Skarby z kolekcji/My vintage treasures

I love not only wearing vintage, but also surround myself with old things. They are not only pretty and often high quality, but - what is the most important to me - they have a soul. To drink tea from 50s cup or to wear 30s brooch feels really different then using modern things - even those most beautiful. While using old things, I always think about their former owners - especially when I don't know who they were (because I bought something for example at bidding service).
The things I would like to show you today aren't the oldest, the most expensive or maybe even the most beautiful from my (still small) collection. But they are the most valuable for me, because I didn't buy them - they used to belong to people from my family and that's why their sentimental value is very huge for me.

Naszyjnik i broszka z lat 30. Naszyjnik wykonany jest ze szklanych paciorków (ciężki! :P), broszka to emaliowany metal.

The necklace and the brooch from 30s. The necklace is made of glass beads (that's why so heavy), the brooch is enamelled metal. The girl on the photography is my great-grandma, the former owner of this jewelry - this photo comes from her high school student's ID.

My great-grandma's earrings - made of gold and amethysts - from 20s or 30s (I'm not sure). Unfortunately  I can't wear them - I tried piercing my ears for a few times, but it always ended with massive infection :(

Fountain pen, which also used to belong to my great-grandma. I can't tell what it's made of - it's kind of plastic for sure, maybe bakelite? Pen is really tiny - only 9 cm/3,6 inches long, so it perfectly fitted those little handbags of 30s. It's in really bad condition - the nib is bent and the cap is cracked (and sealed with a duct tape, as you can see on the picture) and it can't be used for writing anymore - but it still can be a perfect desk decoration.

Compact from late 50s or early 60s. It used to have a decorative flower on the lid, but it fell away and got lost in 60s. The woman on the photography is my grandma, the former owner of this compact. Grandma isn't with us anymore, but I think about her everytime I look in this mirror...

    1. I'm happy you like it :) I think I'll post more old family photos soon - but I'm too lazy to scan them :P I have an whole album of photos of my grandma's and her sister's 1952 or 1953 seaside trip just waiting to be scanned. And I need to finally scan those pics, cuz my grandma and great aunt were really fashionable girls :)

      xoxo,
